Motor Carrier Dispatcher at Fort Mill

Job Description

Flakeboard is currently seeking a Motor Carrier Dispatcher for its corporate office located in Fort Mill, SC. The Dispatcher is responsible for scheduling pickup and delivery of loads, with Motor Carriers, to customers and/or vendors. The Dispatcher works in an office environment, frequently communicating with carriers, warehouse shipping personnel, sales and management.

Responsibilities:

• Keep accurate records of outstanding loads and load assignments.
• Prioritize loads using multiple sources of information.
• Understand Hours of Service (HOS) regulations and limitations.
• Learn and use multiple Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
• Learn and use Transportation Management Software (TMS).
• Learn and use other company specific software systems.
• Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
• Clearly communicate opportunities, issues, shipment status and other information to a broad audience.
• Familiarity with various modes of transportation and transportation equipment.
• Knowledge of the Transportation industry.
• Knowledge of the Wood Products industry.
• Support other transportation team members and cross train within the transportation function.
• Be aware of least cost carriers and assign loads accordingly.
• Clearly communicate priorities and status to a broad audience.
• Cross train others to ensure continuous, consistent performance.

 

Job Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 1+ years of experience in a similar role within a manufacturing or distribution company.
• Strong written and verbal skills.
• The ability to prioritize and work under pressure and deadlines.
• Team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
• Sense of urgency with customer focus.
• Proactive attitude.
