Position Summary
Supervise the accounting staff to ensure accurate and timely monthly close process. The Accounting Supervisor will support the Accounting Manager and have an active involvement with the accounting team.He/She will be responsible for the accurate accounting and reconciliation of assigned general ledger accounts as well as ensuring data integrity is maintained.He/She will also be responsible for the review of assigned accounts to ensure adequate standard journal entries or accruals are maintained.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supervise accounting processes.
  • Review the following: journal entries for posting in the Oracle general ledger module, systems data when entries are posted to ensure accuracy of information, systems that impact assigned accounts, supporting documentation to internal & external auditors.
  • Define accounting response to new business scenarios.
  • Evaluate materiality and business direction to recommend accounting policy and implementation.
  • Assure systems accuracy and work with IS to resolve systems issues.
  • Supervise the monthly close process. Highlight issues, monitor and communicate close issues to other accounting groups.
  • Lead team of accountants. Develop transferable business accounting competencies within the group.
  • Set and meet productivity improvement goals, adopting best practices and leveraging technology as appropriate.
  • Supervise the preparation and publishing of daily, weekly, monthly financial reporting. Work closely with team members and manager to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Act as a key operational business partner.
  • Organize and supervise weekly control tasks to ensure service level agreements (SLAs) are met.
  • Assist in research and troubleshoot variances.
  • Ensure all system-feeds into the general ledger are complete and accurate.
  • Maintain SOX controls that are key to maintaining integrity of information.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis and special projects to improve business results.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities and update procedures after changes are made.
  • Document procedures as they are implemented.
  • Complete special projects as assigned.

Job Requirements

Basic

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting

Preferred

  • Minimum six years ofgeneral ledger or accounting experience
  • Minimum six yearsofexperience with Excel, Word, Access, Oracle or other accounting software
  • Minimum two years of Accounting Supervisor experience
  • Proven ability to develop business partnerships across functions, strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Excellent problem solving skills including issue definition, root cause and resolution options.
  • Solid understanding of accounting rules
  • Sound judgment to determinewhen to elevate issues to the next level.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, ability to multi-task.
  • Independent judgment to identify risks and anticipate the range of possible scenarios.
  • Ability to direct the work of others, set goals, monitors progress, and develop skill set.
  • Ability to partner with IS to determine best solutions to data problems. Ability to analyze the role of process vs. technology is resolving issues.
  • Strong ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
    Excellent analytical skills.
  • Ability to cooperate with team members and with the manager.
  • Ability to be flexible with position duties and scope of work.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Implementing or Migrating systems experience.
  • Previous supervision ofat least three direct reports.
  • Project planning and execution experience.
    Process Improvement, Lean Six Sigma, Five S or Value Stream Mapping.
