VBMS - DATA ANALYST at Charleston

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Engility Corp has an immediate opening fora Data Analyston the Veterans Benefits Management System (VBMS) program. The VBMS program is a multi-year effort to transition the current paper-based veteran claims process to a paperless solution in order toimprove the accuracy of claims process and reduce the time to process veteran benefits claims. The program employs a Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) to interface with VA internal data sources and external systems. This development program follows an agile development life cycle to rapidly deliver solutions and employs scrum teams equipped with current state of the art technologies, processes and development environments.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

• Support the maintenance of data integrity, data discovery and research, and integration of external services.
• Assist the development teams to better understand how data is structured, sourced, and consumed throughout the system.
• Understand and integrate enterprise data strategies, goals and objectives into project and day-to-day operating activities.
• Analyze VBMS and legacy data in order to assist development teams with defect resolution.
• Monitor compliance with all approved data standards, policies, and procedures.
• Proactive data quality issue discovery.
• Research legacy systems and understand what is needed to maintain legacy compatibility.
• Assist other team members with maintaining database documentation.
• Knowledge of architecture principles/best practices and standards with focus on Data Management in the context of Services Oriented Architecture (SOA) Data Services.

• Evaluate and investigatedata-related problems and propose solutions to those problems.

MINIMUM TANGIBLE QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree orequivalentin a technical discipline (Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, etc.)
• 6+ years of experience working with relational databases and SQL (ORACLE preferred).
• Two years of relevant experience is equivalent to one year toward a bachelors degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Oracle database experience a plus.
• Experience with SOAP/WSDL web services (preferably soapUI) highly desired.
• Experience with the Agile software development methodology is highly desired
