Instrumentation and Sensor Test Technician – Intermediate Level

(Export Control – US Citizen or Green Card Holder)

Location: Greenville, SC

The ideal candidate for this position will have lab test experience with instrumentation and sensors. The testing experience should included Calibration, Routing, Appling Sensors, Networks, and Assemblies and Instrumentation. Background in Gas Turbines or Power Source testing is highly desired.  Tack Welding or spot welding a plus.

This job entails working in a world class test lab on Data Acquisition Systems designed to capture data from land based, Power Station Gas Turbines around the world. You will work with a team performing calibration, networking and routing of the test systems. You will also apply sensors, assemblies and instrumentation as required. This lab work may entail assisting in the packing up these data acquisition systems for shipment to the customer; so you must be able to lift packages over 35 lbs.

The team Axiem International is putting together for our Fortune 25 customer requires three different levels of experience and education for this team – Test Technician – Specialist I, Test Technician – Specialist 2, and Test Technician – Specialist III; please see specific requirements for each level below.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions:

• Install instrumentation on gas turbine hardware
• Work with manufacturing/vendors to ensure instrumentation is not damaged during assembly operations
• Perform operational checks on test equipment and sensors
• Packing, shipping and setting up test equipment
• Applying and troubleshooting instrumentation on gas turbines and accessory equipment
• Operation of various data acquisition systems per GE ISO procedures and best practices
• Pulling cables and installing in cable tray
• Work shift is primarily 1st shift, but may be changed to 2nd or 3rd when needed
• Work overtime when required (opportunity to work up to 500 hours of overtime)
• Ability to travel worldwide for extended periods of time (Valid Driver’s License, ability to acquire a Passport)
• Data taken may be export-controlled, Must be a US Citizen or Green Card Holder.
• Anticipated start date is 3rd quarter of 2013.

Job Requirements

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

Test Specialist II (Intermediate Level)

• Candidate must possess AS in electrical or mechanical engineering with 3-6 years’ experience (Commercial or Military)
• Complete understanding of electronics in the design and connectivity of test equipment
• Experience in execution of industrial equipment tests 
• Familiar with testing equipment
• Documents test results per ISO procedures
• Support set up and facility trouble shooting as required
• Configures, operates, and maintains instrumentation and data acquisition systems utilized by  development laboratory
• Strong computer skills (MS Excel, Lab View etc.)
• Relies on minimal instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job 
• Ability to work independently or under guidance of the engineering team
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment. 
• Veterans with calibration and electronics background highly desirable
• Ability to travel 30-40% of the time, domestically and internationally
