Job Summary:

- This position performs microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples and finished products.

- Also performs bioassays, stability testing and calibration of instruments and equipment.

Job Functions/Duties:

- Perform microbiological testing on raw materials, finished products and in process samples. This is inclusive of Total Plate Count, Mold, Yeast and Pathogens.

- Perform bioassays of folic acid, biotin, Cal Pan and B12 on stability products.

- Participate in routine lab operations: lab inventory, media and reagent preparation, sterilization and decontamination.

- Perform investigations, environmental testing and work on special projects as assigned.

- Participate in calibration and maintenance of micro lab equipment.

- Knowledge and compliance with company policies and SOPs.

- At the end of shift record what was tested and what results were found in the Laboratory Information Management System.

- Show new employees all responsibilities whenever training is necessary.

- Responsible for final reporting of microbiological results in notebooks and LIMS.

- Present an attitude that fosters team work and promotes positive morale of fellow lab staff, including reliability in attendance and completion of assigned duties.

Requirements:

- Minimum of BS/BA in Microbiology; MS preferred, with 2-3 years experience in microbiology, laboratory, food stuffs or pharmaceuticals preferred.

- MUSThave experience performing bioassays of folic acid, biotin, Cal Pan or B12.

Skills and Abilities:

- Ability to work independently and as part of a team; must possess self-motivation, adaptability and a positive attitude.

- Knowledge of microbiological principles including but not limited to aseptic techniques, media prep and quality control.
