The Proposal Technical Writer position is located in Charleston, SC and will be based out of the Benefitfocus Corporate Headquarters. This position requires an individual with experience in business communications and technical writing, with software application technical writing experience strongly preferred. The ability to work both independently and in a team environment in addition to going above and beyond to get the job done is required. A bachelors degree in English, Business, or Communications and 3 years of professional experience directly related to the job responsibilities are required.

Responsibilities:

• Create effective pricing proposals and collateral documents for large Employer Sales pursuits
• Work with cross-functional team to author and produce detailed, accurate Request for Proposal (RFP), Request for Information (RFI) and request for Quote (RFQ) responses within required deadlines
• Manage and continually improve the process and tool set for efficiently and effectively producing high quality proposals and RFPs
• Assist technical resources in creating white papers, presentations, and other sales support material for Benefitfocus products and services
• Manage short timelines and multiple projects simultaneously
• Support Employer Sales new associate training efforts

Job Requirements

Experience & Skills:

• Strong business and technical writing background
• Demonstrated success in authoring and managing sales proposals and RFI/RFQ/RFPs
• Demonstrated writing and copy editing skills
• Experience in leading training sessions for new sales associates in areas of job expertise
• Highly skilled in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Experience working in a fast-paced sales environment and the software industry desired
