Job Description

General Responsibilities:
Senior level professional who makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative within area of expertise and have important impact on extensive scientific activities. May function as technical professional on large or complex projects. Makes decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative within area of expertise and that have important impact on extensive activities. Will have demonstrated creativity, foresight and mature judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented problems.

Acts as internal consultant to Company, establishing the required technical policy, procedures and developing new markets in professional services for the firm. Provides guidance to senior level management staff on the most unique and complex problems and client investigations, providing formal training to staff as necessary to maintain firms current state-of-the-art practice. Due to his/her reputation, is expected to attract and develop clients to company in area of expertise. Assists Division or Office Manager where necessary.

Essential Functions and Duties:
Plans and develops approaches to projects with unique or controversial problems.
Explores subject area, defines scope and selection.

Represents group in conferences to resolve questions and plan and coordinate work.
As a specialist, develops and evaluates plans and criteria for a variety of projects and activities to be carried out by others.

Provides training to all staff when under his/her direction, while performing on client projects or providing professional development for subordinate staff. Directs in-house technical seminars in areas of expertise.

Publishes technical articles, presents technical papers and training seminars to appropriate technical groups to promote the professional image and reputation of the company.

Provides consultation on quality control issues to corporate and line management to resolve conflicts on projects where questions or service deficiencies have surfaced in technical area of his/her expertise.

In accordance with company procedures, approves or prepares reports for relatively complex projects, making appropriate recommendations as necessary on relatively small or large projects.

Acts as expert witness on behalf of company to clients or representing company in litigation or court proceedings.

Due to technical reputation in the industry, identifies potential clients in need of their expertise and in turn sells the services of company to those clients.

With assistance of corporate marketing, develops research methods to uncover potential clients for new markets in area of expertise.

Participates in the development of marketing strategies and formal presentations of qualifications to clients on various projects in area of expertise.
