The Infrastructure/Environment Division of URS is actively seeking a highly talented Survey Instrument Operator/Technician for immediate employment in its Columbia, SC office. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Adjusts and operates surveying instruments such as prisms, theodolites, levels, GPS and electronic distance-measuring equipment Positions and holds vertical rods, or targets, that theodolite operators use for sighting to measure angles, distances and elevations Lays out grids and determines horizontal and vertical controls May record survey measurements and descriptive data using notes, drawings, sketches and inked tracings Searches for section corners, property irons and survey points Compares survey computations with applicable standards to determine adequacy of data Sets out and recovers stakes, marks and other monumentsDo the best work of your life! Job Requirements
Minimum High school diploma or equivalent Minimum two years of solid survey experience Basic understanding of the equipment and technology for surveying activities Rudimentary knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet, as well as other relevant software (e.g., computer aided design (CAD), database user interface and query, map creation and analytical or scientific, etc.) Outdoor work environment subject to hot/cold temperatures and uneven terrain Valid drivers license required with acceptable driving record Qualified applicants who are offered a position must pass a pre-employment substance abuse testCountry: USA, State: South Carolina, City: Columbia, Company: URS Corporation.
