The Time Warner Cable Corporate office currently seeks a Critical Infrastructure Supervisor for our Critical Infrastructure group that is a department of TWCs Technology and Network Operations organization. Below please find a brief description of the essential duties and responsibilities required to function successfully in this position.
Position Summary
The Critical Infrastructure Supervisor is responsible for the reliable operation of the Time Warner Cable Critical Facilities (Market Data Centers, Headends and Hub sites) within their Management Area/Division. The CI Supervisor is responsible for vendor management, facilities planning, budgeting/ forecasts, hardware intake, emergency repair, critical maintenance scheduling, ensuring standard operating procedures, interpreting monitoring systems, MOP creation and project management of ongoing CI projects. The CI Supervisor oversees a team of associate engineers to provide the aforementioned CI services. The CI Supervisor works closely with and acts as a SME (subject matter expert) resource to the team and various other stakeholders who operate within the TWC critical facilities. The CI Supervisor is responsible to ensure assigned critical facilities maintain always on availability.
Essential Job Functions:
- Primary point of interface for vendors in the areas of: HVAC, Fire Suppression/Water Detection, Uninterruptible Power, Power Distribution, Backup generators, DC Power Plants, Cabling/Wiring, General Maintenance, Cleaning, and Asset Management.
- Develop and manage capital projects to expand, upgrade, or build new critical facilities using the components above and knowledge of general construction practices.
- Scheduling and coordination of vendors and internal workforce
- Works directly with vendors on all maintenance or fix/repair needs. Perform review and recommendations of maintenance contracts with vendor(s) and manage adherence of maintenance contracts/preventive maintenance schedules across all managed facilities.
- Evaluate vendor performed work including maintenance, repairs, and new equipment deployments
- Establish Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) with vendors; review and validate procedures before any vendor work is scheduled. Coordinate all planned work with the local management using the appropriate TWC change management policies and procedures. Create and implement MOP (Method of Procedures).
- Develop and maintain capacity analysis and forecasts for critical facilities. This includes space and floor layout, heat projections and HVAC requirements, and power consumption.
- Manage and implement hardware intake process taking into consideration power, space, and cooling capacities.
- Coordinate creation and maintenance of as-built diagrams and electrical 1 line diagrams for all managed facilities.
- Work in planned and unplanned (emergency) situations during non-business hour situations as needed.
- Monitors local and remote systems to include troubleshooting, tuning and maintenance, using Eaton Foreseer and other software solutions.
- Provide regular performance and management reports for each site on key metrics including unplanned events, recent changes, and capacity forecast.
- Establish and maintain written, verbal, and online communications channels with regional management to insure they are always up to date for their respective facility.
- Provide 24x7 on call support and response as deemed necessary by local management.
Job Requirements:
- Candidate must have a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems in use in a mission-critical environment including feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, -48v DC plant system, ATS units, PDU/PDM units, chillers, split system DX units, air handling units, CRAC units, humidifiers, security systems, fire detection and water and gaseous fire suppression
- Candidate must have the ability to provide concise documentation of operational procedures. Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, interpersonal and telephone, is a must.
- Workforce management of team including scheduling and overtime management.
- Strong leadership skills
- Position requires a self-motivated problem-solver with the able to work with minimal supervision in a team-oriented environment. Also requires a great attitude working with internal customers and external parties, and the ability to provide leadership and oversight to facilities operations.
- Experience as a facilities engineer or datacenter technician at a medium or large datacenter facilities and/or experience working in similar environments as a service technician.
- Working knowledge of computer aided drafting tools such as AutoCAD and Visio
- Knowledge of specific data center requirements as set forth in the National Electrical Code, National Fire Protection Association, OSHA and local safety regulations
- Ability to communicate intelligently and effectively with contractors performing maintenance or upgrade work on systems installed in a technology operations environment
- Ability to read mechanical drawings, electrical schematics, and one-line diagrams
- General knowledge of building materials
- Experience with tools such as voltmeter, ammeter, IR camera and anemometer
- General knowledge of regulatory laws, requirements, codes, and rules
- General knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Internet skills
- Previous project management experience is preferred
- Knowledge of physical network connectivity and TCP/IP protocols a plus
- Valid drivers license
Job Requirements
Bachelors degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field or minimum of five years related experience; or equivalent combination of education, certification and work experience.
Education and Experience:
Bachelors degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent training, education and experience.
Travel Requirements:
Yes Travel % 50 within local management area
Supervisory/Managerial Responsibilities:
Supervisor: Plans, staffs, evaluates and directs work of employees of a work unit.
Physical Demands:
This position requires ability to work in a datacenter, electrical and mechanical rooms, and on construction sites. Requires the ability to work on items such as batteries, electrical panels, air conditioners etc. as necessary. Requires climbing ladders, standing for long periods of time, and driving long distances.
