Clinical Consultant at Columbia

Job Description

The Clinical Consultant serves as the primary liaison between Catamaran clinical operations, professional practice, and clinical products and the consultants assigned client base. The role provides clinical support for Catamaran account management, operations, information technology, and other internal departments. This individual is relied upon to provide proactive clinical recommendations to clients and foster consultative relationships.

  • Collaborates with clients to establish achievable but aggressive clinical program goals, including generic dispensing rate improvements, implementation of utilization management programs, improvement in medication adherence rates, improvements in therapy gaps for key chronic disease states, and formulary compliance targets.
  • Provide superior clinical consultation and clinical account management with a focus on client satisfaction, client retention, and trend management
  • Comprehends and effectively explains formulary and clinical program changes to clients, as well as understands and effectively manages custom formulary maintenance and submission to include both commercial and Medicare Part D formularies
  • Manages/facilitates custom P&T committees for select clients
  • Provides education for clients, pharmacists, members and physicians per contractual requirements
  • Communicates drug information to clients and responds to plan-specific clinical inquiries
  • Formulate and deliver client recommendations based on available data
  • Incorporate treatment and practice guidelines into client presentations including up-selling opportunities
  • Analyze and interpret benefit designs
  • Routinely collaborating with account management to provide clinical aspects in client quarterly reviews, as well as set and achieve clinical goals for client and Catamaran
  • Travel as required
  • PharmD or RPh within State of South Carolina
  • At least 3 years managed care pharmacy practice, PBM, or equivalent experience required
  • Formulary development, P&T committee involvment, and/or drug utilization review familiarity preferred.
  • Medicare Part D experience preferred
