Continuous Improvement Specialist at Columbia

Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturer of engineered products and industrial services worldwide, is seeking a Continuous Improvement Specialist for their facility located in Columbia, SC.

 

The Opportunity

The Continuous Improvement Specialist will be responsible for driving cultural transformation throughout the business while building effective matrix teams and driving involvement.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

• Identify, lead, and execute the CI strategy via Lean and Six Sigma
• Facilitate and lead Continuous Improvement events as a subject matter expert
• Perform business assessment, planning, facilitation, execution of kaizen events
• Determine proposed budget and cost/benefit forecasts for CI events / projects
• Provide insight and influence at all levels from business leaders to the shop floor
• Primary point of contact with any outside consultants assisting with the implementation

• Define goals, metrics, and levels of success for internal/external customers

• Build a matrix team focusing on talent multiplication and utilization of experience
• Define tasks clearly, identify and coordinate resources, and execute CI go-forward plan
• Identify barriers to progress and execute team plan for success
• Resolve barriers with sponsors
• Monitor cost, schedule and performance of projects and events

• Partner with operations management to identify training needs

• Coach operational managers and staff to develop a Continuous Improvement culture

 

 

 

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree engineering, business or related discipline 
• 5+ years CI experience
• Lean / Six Sigma Certification
• Extensive experience in leading kaizen events
