POSITION TITLE: Human Resources Coordinator
LOCATION: Headquarters
SALARY:$$37,636
General Statement of Job
Under the direction of the Human Resource Benefits Manager, will assist in the administration and maintenance of a quality Human Resources Division for the Charleston County Park and Recreation Commission. The HR Coordinator is responsible for administering PRC’s leave management system, administering the drug screening program, processing rehired employees, processing terminated employees, leading employee meetings and trainings, assisting in the administration of employee benefits, and maintaining employee records. Assists with routine and non-routine projects as required. Some weekends required.

•Knowledge of public agency personnel and recordkeeping requirements and ability to perform these requirements.
•Maintain current knowledge of the agency’s labor management.

•Ability to effectively supervise part time staff.
•Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, in oral and written form; ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with fellow employees, other organizations, and the general public.
•Ability to manage time effectively and to establish good work habits.
•Ability to generate required work on a timely basis, with a high degree of accuracy.
•Ability to exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment and discretion in all areas.
•Knowledge and awareness of Federal, State and local legislation related to public agency
personnel activities.
•Shall possess and maintain a valid S.C. drivers license.
Minimum Training and Experience
Graduation from a college or university with a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or a related field is preferred with a minimum of two years experience as a generalist in the Human Resources field also preferred. This may be offset by an associate’s degree plus five years relevant experience required or eight years total relevant experience required.
Working Conditions and Physical Abilities
Work is performed in office settings and out in the field to collect data. Attendance at night meetings is occasionally required. Hand-eye coordination and fine manipulation are necessary to operate computers and various types of office machinery. Ability to work in a fast paced environment, exhibit good management skills, and work with little or no supervision. This position requires occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
