Alcohol and other Drug Program Coordinator at Clemson

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

JOB PURPOSE:

Provide leadership and coordination of a campus and community wide alcohol and other drugs (AOD) prevention program; manage and direct the design, implementation, utilization, and development of AOD programs and services. Develop and implement a community-based strategy for promoting healthy behaviors regarding alcohol and other drugs. Work collaboratively with faculty, staff, student, and community members to increase awareness and utilization of AOD programs and services. Provide leadership to Clemson Community Coalition and the Alcohol and other Drug Advisory Board.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

DIRECTION
Direct comprehensive and collaborative AOD prevention program utilizing the socio-ecoligical public health model with a focus on advocacy, community building and environmental management. E/30%

PROGRAMMING:
Direct programming and marketing efforts for achieving university alcohol and drug goals for increasing protective behaviors and reducing student risk and harm with a focus on identified high-risk groups. Participates in the development, assessment and continuous improvement of the Aspire program.-E/30%

ADMINISTRATION:
Administer a mandatory online alcohol education program for all incoming students. E/10%

REPRESENTATION:
Represent Clemson University at state-wide presentations/conferences, advisory boards, and alcohol coalition activities. E/10%

MANAGEMENT:
Secure and manage grant funding and activities. - E/10%

EVALUATION:
Evaluate alcohol and other drugs programs using scientifically valid methods. E/5%

OTHER:
Other duties as assigned. E/5%



Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelors degree in health education, health promotion or a closely related field such as psychology, biology, sociology, education or physical education and health education experience.

PREFERRED IN ADDITION TO THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A masters degree in Public Health, Health Promotion, Student Affairs or a closely related field such as psychology, sociology or education, and one year of public health or health promotion experience; or a Bachelors degree in Health Promotion or a closely related field and two years of health promotion experience. Proven leadership experience in AOD prevention in a college setting preferred.
PAY & WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Band: 05 ($ 31,182.00 - $ 57,695.00)

Occasional nights, weekends and overnight travel required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Knowledge of best practices and current research related to Healthy Campus initiatives with particular focus on alcohol and other drugs. Ability to exercise judgment and discretion, form and maintain collaborative relationships with multiple university and community stakeholders and communicate effectively. Employee needs considerable energy, flexibility and imagination.

Guidelines:

Works under the general supervision of the Director of Healthy Campus. Exercises considerable independent judgement and leadership to plan, implement and evaluate alcohol and other drug (AOD) related initiatives. Provides leadership for the Clemson Community Coalition, the AOD Advisory Board and other initiatives to address AOD issues from a socio-ecological perspective.
