Incumbent works independently and is responsible to the Cardiology Clinical Manager, and Chief Cardiology Services, for the administrative functions of the Cardiology Department, relieving the Clinical Manager of complex administrative matters relating to the departments activities. Incumbent independently plans, organizes, develops, and directs the administrative and clinical/technical activities and provides leadership to achieve optimum operation of the non-invasive department. The incumbent has full authority to act for the Cardiology Clinical Manager for all administrative matters related to non-invasive services. Incumbent will independently coordinate processes and activities in all non-invasive areas that allows continuity of care to Veterans by departmental coverage of Cardiology non-invasive procedural areas and interpretations and daily, weekend, and holiday inpatient coverage as needed. The incumbent assists with training of processes related to the MUSE, ECHO, and Vascular systems. He/she is responsible for all new equipment requests, maintenance requests, equipment training, and installation of new non-invasive equipment. He/she attends and participates in all appropriate meetings, teams, committees and implements any new changes affecting the Cardiology Department. Performs other duties as assigned.
Tour of Duty: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.

Preferred Experience: The applicant should demonstrate approximately 5 years of progressively more responsible experience as a medical instrument technician. This experience may been gained in positions such as a lead echocardiography technician, a supervisory echocardiography technician, or a non-supervisory echocardiography technician, lead vascular technician, a supervisory vascular technician, or a non-supervisory vascular technician with substantial additional responsibilities over the full-performance level technician.
GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
This position is above the full-performance level (GS-8) for Medical Instrument Technicians. In order to meet the qualifications for the GS-10 level, you must meet at least 1 (one) year experience comparable to the next lower grade level of a (GS-9).

KSAs 1, 2, and 3 areappropriate for all positions at this level. KSAs 4 and 5 are to be used in accordance with their appropriateness forthe specific assignment. *1. Knowledge of the more complex examination and treatment procedures andtechniques in order to provide training and supervision in these procedures, toevaluate and initiate performance improvement projects, and to write policies,procedures, and protocols, that pertain to Echocardiography. *2. Knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements. *3. Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with employees atvarying grade levels. *4. Ability to manage and supervise employees. *5. Ability to provide, or provide for, staff development and training.
