Security System Electrician at Charleston

Secure Mission Solutions has an immediate need for a Security System Electrician. The Security Electricians are responsible for the installation of the infrastructure backbone of complex Integrated Electronic Security Systems (IESS) for Automated Access Control (ACS), Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), as well as various other ESS related peripheral equipment and devices.

Infrastructure can include conduit (both EMT and GRC), cable trays, underground duct banks and conduit systems, lighting and camera poles, equipment enclosures, etc. Projects can range from basic infrastructure installation (conduit & cabling) to complex head-end Command and Control equipment. After installations are complete, maintenance of systems will be a requirement on various contracts.

Basic Duties include:

· Installation of electrical and security infrastructure materials and equipment necessary to complete the job.

· Installation of conduit (RGS & EMT), cable raceways, equipment enclosures, and required wire/cabling.

· Use of equipment for testing continuity of copper conductors

· Termination of copper cabling

Other Required Duties include:

In many cases, electricians will be transferred to other projects / sites for infrastructure installations after electrical infrastructure is complete, however, in some cases electricians will be tasked with assisting with the completion of the ESS system as a whole, as determined by the Project Management Team. In this case, primary duties will be expanded to include the following:

· Perform routine installations of ESS equipment such as Cameras, Camera Mounts, Access Control Devices, Card Readers, Door Contacts, Sensors, Intrusion Detection Devices, Equipment Racks, Video Recorders, Power Supplies, etc.

Basic Qualifications:

· Must be able to read blue prints and schematic drawings

· Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word)

· Must have the ability to operate hand and power tools and own basic installation hand tools appropriate for the position

· Must have the ability to work independently, work in confined spaces, climb ladders, stand for extended periods, work extended hours, and travel independently

· Must possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to operate company vehicles

· Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds

· Working knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) and Electrical installation practices

· The ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance

· Legally authorized to work in the United States

· The ability to obtain a U.S. Passport

 

Travel: Up to 75%



Required Experience:

· Three (3) to five (5) years non-residential electrical installation at the journeyman level.

Beneficial Experience:

· Experience with the installation of ESS infrastructure to include conduit / cabling for ACS and CCTV Systems.

· Two (2) years formal electronics training, to include: Installation Tasks, Soldering, Cable Dressing, Cable Tray, Conduit, and Making/Repairing Connectors

· Experience with government projects CONUS and OCONUS.

Applicants should be familiar with global travel and be capable of unescorted, independent travel to and from OCONUS project locations

Education Requirements:

· High School diploma or GED and either of the following is preferred:

o Completion of an accredited electrical apprenticeship

o Four (4) years military training and field work in commercial / industrial style electrical installation.

· Current Journeyman Electrician License Preferred
