Job Description
Set-up, operate, optimize, changeover/troubleshoot, and maintain production equipment for the packaging operation. Responsible for meeting production standards, maintaining product quality, minimizing/preventing equipment downtime, and sustaining budgeted waste levels on a daily basis.
1. Has detailed operational knowledge of the equipment to the point that he/she can operate within specified quality/quantity limits.2. Programs electronic scale to establish accurate target weight for each product.3. Stage packaging supplies and shipping containers as required meeting production schedule.4. Sets up and debugs equipment to the specifications listed in plant policies and department procedures. 5. Maintains equipment to produce product within specified quality and quantity limits; adjusting, troubleshooting, cleaning, repairing, clearing jams and answering alarms as necessary.6. Utilizes technical skills and training to complete equipment repairs and reports major problems. Assist technical personnel with major repairs as needed.7. Performs preventative maintenance on the equipment as specified in the plant preventative maintenance (PM) program.8. Requires mechanical ability and knowledge of proper use of tools, proper troubleshooting and set up procedures, and machine blueprint reading. 9. Starts up equipment and ensures proper functioning of machines and control panel. Ensures all safety features are in position and functional.10. Monitor product flow throughout the packaging process to meet productivity requirements. 11. Maintains accurate production and lot history documentation through computer based systems.12. Maintains a neat and orderly production environment.13. Continually monitors in-process quality, addressing issues as needed to prevent product holds. Performs and documents all required Q.C. checks. Generates hold tickets as needed.14. Observes all safety and environmental procedures and Quality System Requirements (QSR).15. Performs rework as required.16. Communicate with upstream manufacturing and technical associates to address and prevent quality issues.
Job Requirements
- Minimum requirements for this position include a High School Diploma or GED and minimum of 2 years mechanical experience. Industrial/Manufacturing experience preferred.
- Completed courseworkin following subjects required (relevant experience may be substituted forindividual courses):Schematics, Basic Principles of Mechanics, and Introduction to Industrial Technology.
- Requires following WorkKeys scores prior to employment start: Applied Technology-3; Locating Information-4; Observation-4 and Reading for Information-4.
- Must be proficient with basic hand tools. Knowledgeable of feeler gauges and other tools to measure tolerances, torque, and clearances. Should be familiar with troubleshooting of cams, cam-followers, rod-ends, bushings, chain drives, conveyors, gear-boxes,vacuum systems, pneumatic systems, and ball-valves.
