Job Description

BUYER

 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

 

General: Manage all aspects of the purchasing function in support of divisional goals.

 

Specific:

1.  Responsible for costs reduction of 4.5% of controllable spend

2.  Maintain Savings Tracker and Report PPV Numbers to corporate and Finance

3.  Responsible for managing Supplier Payment Terms

4.  Work with Program Team to select, negotiate and source all new component  parts for suppliers.

5.  Responsible for developing bid instruments, to include but not limited to requests for proposals, invitations for bids, requests for quotations, and for evaluating supplier responses to the same.

6.  Develops, releases, amends, withdrawals, and cancels purchase orders, agreements, and other similar instruments as needed and in accordance of the requirements of the division and corporation.

7.  Responsible for locating, developing, and maintaining a supplier base capable of supporting the needs of individual functions and departments in a manner supportive of the objectives of the division and the corporation.

8.  Develops, establishes, and maintains supplier performance measurements as needed to support the objectives of the divisions.

9.  Works in concert with the supplier base and individual divisional functions or departments to support process improvements, cost reduction objectives, and continuous improvement efforts in support of divisional goals.

10.  Develops and maintains excellent working relationships with other divisional functions and departments.

11.  Expected to develop and maintain detailed knowledge and skill with purchasing modules of any business enterprises software system used by the division, and update same based on the changing needs of the division.

12.  Supports and adheres to divisional and corporate policies and procedures.

13.  Performs the duties and responsibilities of others in the purchasing function as directed.

14.  Continuously works to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the purchasing function.

15.  Additional responsibilities per Innertech Policies and Procedures.

16.  Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

1.  Physically able to work in an industrial environment.

2.  Physically able to work in an office environment.

3.  Physically able to operate standard computing equipment.

4.  Physically able to file documents, including the bending, standing, reaching, and handling associated with file systems and storage equipment.

5.  Ability to generate routine business correspondence, including the use of Microsoft Word and Excel documents.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

1.  Four-year business or business related degree from a properly accredited educational institution.

2.  Possession of a current Certified in Purchasing Management professional certification from the Institute for Supply Management, with progression toward one of the professional certifications offered by the APICS - The Educational Society for Resource Management desired.

3.  More than ten years of purchasing experience.

4.  More than five years of purchasing experience in the automotive industry.

5.  A proven record of cost reduction results in the automotive industry.

6.  A proven record of negotiation experience and the development of long term agreements in the automotive industry.

7.  Excellent organizational skills.

8.  Excellent speaking and writing skills.

9.  The ability to operate independently in all strategic and tactical aspects of the purchasing function.

10.  The ability to mentor other less experienced purchasing professionals.

11.  Computer literate, with emphasis on use of the Microsoft Office Suite of products, any business enterprises software systems in use by the division, and the Internet.

12.  Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and timely follow-through.

13.  Ability to prioritize tasks and manage individual and group workloads.
