OVERVIEW
This position is located in the Naval Health Clinic Charleston Pharmacy Department. The incumbent will be responsible for the duties of a Pharmacy Technician.

- This position is a drug-testing designated position (TDP).

· Perform a variety of technical support functions in a pharmacy.
· Maintain automated dispensing systems, prepare IV mixtures, perform mathematical calculations of pharmaceutical preparations and follow aseptic techniques.
· Follow and apply Federal laws, Navy regulations and applicable state laws pertaining to the handling of narcotics and controlled substances.
· Under the supervision of a pharmacist receive and prepare prescriptions and accurately maintain the required records and accountability documents reflecting issuance and receipt of these agents.

SELECTIVE PLACEMENT FACTOR: This position has a selective placement factor needed in order to qualify. The actual Selective Placement Factor is: certification as a Pharmacy Technician at either State or National level. Failure to possess this factor WILL result in an ineligible rating. Possession of the factor must be verifiable via a copy of the certificate submitted with resume.
In order to qualify for this position, your resume must provide sufficient experience and/or education, knowledge, skills, and abilities, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are being considered. Your resume is the key means we have for evaluating your skills, knowledge, and abilities, as they relate to this position. Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled and has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities, to successfully perform the duties of the position. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
· Apply basic pharmaceutical nomenclature, characteristics, strengths and dosage forms of pharmaceuticals, pharmaceutical systems of weights and measures and the operation and care of a variety of pharmaceutical equipment.
· Experience maintaining automated dispensing systems, preparing IV mixtures, performing mathematical calculations of pharmaceutical preparations and following aseptic techniques.
· Experience assisting pharmacist receiving and preparing outpatient prescriptions, and accurately maintaining the required records and accountability documents.
· Experience with a variety techniques involved in the care, storage, repacking, bulk compounding and distribution of pharmaceuticals.

REQUIREMENTS:
Selectee is required to participate in the Department of Defense direct deposit of pay program.
