Job Description

Title: Financial Analyst II-IV

 

General Statement of Job Duties:

Developing role responsible for financial analysis of business transactions and planning cycle activities with close supervision. Possesses basic analytical capability (advised on what to analyze, what data to use, knows where to get data and generally knows what results indicate). Possesses a basic understanding of generally accepted accounting policies and procedures.  Possesses a basic understanding of relevant computer software. 

 

Possesses a general understanding of the financial business environment as well as a general understanding of the role that financial analysis plays in the management of operation or entity.  Can conduct basic financial analysis, identifying and documenting trends in data.  Produces analyses for review and interpretation by management.  Majority of choices can be made independently but limited management interaction is required when assignments are non-standard.

  • Operates effectively as part of a larger team and in managing own work.  Is assigned more complex tasks.
  • Forms productive relationships with internal customers by listening, clarifying and responding effectively and courteously. 
  • Cooperates and works effectively with others.
  • Able to effectively communicate in both written and spoken situations allowing for the exchange of information.  Responsible for writing reports and documenting analysis for supervisor in a clear and concise manner.
  • Limited decision making required.  Independently establishes own work priorities. Chooses an approach or procedure for addressing a work task, under guidance.
  • Extensive role in budget process.

 

 

Job Requirements

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Required: Accounting, Finance, Business or technical related bachelor’s degree with 1 year of experience or 5 years of financial analysis related experience. Advanced business degree or professional certification will be considered the equivalent of 1 year each.

 

Desired: Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel and Access.

Hands on experience building spreadsheet models and creating ad-hoc reports by summarizing large amounts of data.
