Data Analyst at Fort Mill

Job Description



We are looking for a Data Analyst to analyze all aspects of the performance of our rental fleet and to assist in building a strategic planning model which incorporates revenue performance, profitability, product forecasting, economic and demographic data, capital budgeting, and other key components. The Data Analyst reports directly to the Corporate Fleet Director and will be responsible for multiple key initiatives and projects, including:

  • Conducting comprehensive fleet optimization analyses which factor in equipment utilization and revenue performance in order to continually improve the overall fleet performance
  • Conducting return on investment analyses by equipment category with total cost of ownership incorporated
  • Conducting pricing analyses and market surveys
  • Conducting seasonality-based revenue analyses by region and category of tool
  • Conducting geographic analyses to layer store performance, market performance, fleet mix, demographics, and other data
  • Maintaining 12-month forecasts by manufacturer
  • Revenue reporting by region, area, store, and equipment type
  • Down equipment reporting by region, area, store, and equipment type
  • Fleet deployment reporting by month
  • Analyze and develop other analytics tools in conjunction with the Corporate Fleet Director, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Region Managers


Job Requirements



  • Minimum 3-5 years relevant professional experience in analytics or related role
  • Strong analytical skills including experience with large data sets, relational databases, SQL, and statistical analysis tools
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Excel, including creation of financial and statistical models using a range of advanced formulas
  • Obsessively detail-oriented
  • Experienced business judgment
  • Great interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate will be communicating daily with all levels of management
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team under pressure and with a variety of moving parts
  • Recognizes own strengths and weaknesses; understands and models the companys core values; pursues self-development; seeks feedback.

Key Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive experience working with large data sets
  • Ability to apply statistical analysis methods to large data sets
  • Ability to design and create reports to capture and summarize key performance indicators
  • Knowledge of corporate finance, including financial statements, cash flow, risk and return, and capital budgeting
  • Basic understanding of financial and managerial accounting (break-even analysis, cost-benefit analysis, depreciation, inventory)
  • Understanding of economics, macro and micro (GDP, economic growth, employment, housing, interest rates, etc.)
  • Understanding of competitive strategy, industry, and company analysis
  • History of working as a significant contributor on cross-functional teams
  • Ability to balance multiple objectives and projects
  • Demonstrated ability to include the big picture in defining and answering analytical questions
  • Experience and demonstrated skills communicating complex concepts with peers, managers, and senior leadership in an audience-appropriate manner
  • Knowledge of equipment rental industry and construction equipment is preferred
