Job Description
SUMMARY:
The primary function of this role is to provide expertise and leadership for manufacturing equipment maintenance and improvement, especially as relating to electrical and electronic systems. This may include process flow development, equipment specifications, process documentation, operator training, project management, preventative maintenance planning, equipment trouble-shooting, tooling development, and root-cause analysis.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (other duties may be assigned):
Lead the Controls Engineering function for Manufacturing Engineering & Maintenance groups. Operate as the lead for troubleshooting and improving electronic systems. Design Poke-Yoke systems for integration into manufacturing equipment. Coordinate and communicate with other departments regarding important project information and status. Work with the Manufacturing team, Maintenance and Production Associates to improve process and material flow. Train Maintenance Technicians. Job Requirements
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
B.S. in Engineering required. Electrical or Controls Engineering preferred. Minimum of 5 years of Engineering experience in manufacturing environment required. Experience in an electrical/controls engineering role is required. Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics. Proficiency in programming and troubleshooting PLC-5, SLC 500, Logix platforms, Panel view, RSView required. Experience with Siemens S5 & S7 a plus. Proficiency troubleshooting device level networks (DeviceNET) and variable speed drive systems. Experience with Just in Sequence manufacturing, a plus. Must possess strong computer skills (Windows XP, Excel, Powerpoint, Word, CAD programs, etc.). Knowledge of Visual Basic or programming languages a plus. Strong interpersonal skills and organizational aptitude. Supervisory experience preferred. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Experience specific to heat-exchanger technology (manufacturing or design) a plus. Understanding of lean manufacturing, six sigma, KANBAN, etc. a plus. Experience working in an Automotive / Heavy Truck environment preferred.
