This is a direct hire opportunity in Aiken, SC. This position must promote and maintain quality assurance including quality concepts, systems and procedures in assigned areas to assure product quality at all stages of the process, for continual improvement, to minimize the number and impact of quality problems, and to assure compliance to manufacturing, tech service and other customer requirements.


Responsibilities and growth prospects for the Quality Engineer include:

  • Maintain the QA systems and procedures and facilitate education and training to all plant personnel to assure compliance to QA systems and procedures in assigned areas.
  • Coordinate problem solving activities and the development of countermeasures for the prevention of quality problems and for product performance improvement.
  • Coordinate and facilitate quality activities to promote continual improvement.
  • Analyze and investigate failure mode and trends of quality problems and promote countermeasures to eliminate the possibility of recurrence.
  • Lead and coordinate lot tracing activities when quality problems are detected.
  • Communication on a plant wide level as well as with other plants, Corporate QA, and customer level.
  • Analyze and track the cost of quality problems and countermeasures as well as reporting trends related to key indicators. Time must be managed so that each area of responsibility is adequately covered, assistance is provided to collect and analyze data for quality and process improvement, and cause / effect is determined and countermeasures implemented.
  • Act as an objective liaison when trouble shooting &/or handling quality issues that cross multiple production areas.
  • Support responsible production area with any quality related issue &/or concern when applicable.
  • Participation in accordance with the plants proactive safety system with regards to performing random safety audits as well as identifying and documenting instances of potential hidden dangers on a frequency that is prescribed by management.

Education and experience required for the Quality Engineer include:

  • BS in engineering or related field plus 2 years as a Jr. Engineer
  • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and assist the implementation of process from all areas of operation to improve the overall product quality of the plant.
  • Must be adaptable to shifting priorities based on the immediate needs of the plant, the customer, and sales demands with the overriding responsibility to protect and assure product quality and performance as well as product liability.
  • The position requires on call readiness to emergency needs on a 24 hour a day, 7 day a week basis. The position requires that the incumbent work overtime when needed with little or no notice. Travel may be required on short notice.
  • Assure that all areas of responsibility are adequately prepared to be audited to any of the plant, corporate, customer or tech services standards.
  • The ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time is required. The ability to walk long distances, stoop, bend and reach is also required as is the ability to read and understand letters and numbers. Must be able to communicate clearly with internal and external groups or individuals.
  • Ability to organize and present material in simple terms.
  • Must work well under deadlines and high volume of stress
