JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for executing the global supply chain strategy for assigned commodities. Accountable and responsible for developing and implementing a supply chain strategy that 1. Delivers the lowest total cost 2. Reduces inventory and 3. Maximizes customer satisfaction through world class on time delivery, lead time and quality metrics.
PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
For assigned commodities, develop and lead the execution of a global supply chain strategy that supports CMS objectives for Supplier OTD, inventory reduction, supplier quality, supplier lead times and material cost reduction. This would include actions to rationalize the supply base, improve supplier relationships, implement supply agreements, drive increased sourcing from low cost sources, leverage the material spend with other Crane business units and reduce the administrative cost of the Supply Chain function.
Maintain awareness of world markets and emerging material related issues in the industry and position the supply chain to flexibly respond accordingly.
Establish and facilitate strategic teams to leverage supplier capabilities in product design, cost reduction, lead time reduction and customer satisfaction.
Work closely with the supply chain, manufacturing and engineering teams to proactively identify and develop external capability to support strategic out-sourcing opportunities.
Obtain competitive bids, analyze costs and negotiate/award contracts to suppliers on the basis of total costs to the company commensurate with financial risks, quality standards, and delivery capabilities.
Leverage technology solutions to maximize effectiveness and efficiency of the strategic sourcing process.
Drive increasing inventory turns by developing, implementing and managing innovative material replenishment processes, including, but not limited to Kanbans, vendor managed inventory and supplier consignments.
Consistent with Cranes Operational Excellence focus, lead Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Growth) throughout the Supply Chain.
Drive continuous improvement in the supply base by communicating objective performance metrics, focused on lead time reduction, on-time delivery improvement, quality improvement, and cost reduction.
Provide effective support to new product introduction teams.
Work with the Strategic Team to develop robust commodity strategies to support the business objectives.
Engender a spirit of cooperation throughout the supply chain to insure responsiveness to the customer.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of 7 years experience in a Supply Chain related role. Broad knowledge of the marketplace and manufacturing technologies for assigned commoditiesis desired.
Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
In depth knowledge of supplier qualification processesand supplier performance metrics.
Direct experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc). Lean/Six Sigma certification (black belt or green belt) is desired.
Prior experience implementing a pull system/kanban approach to component flow.
Global sourcing experience.
Extensive experience in value engineering.
Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact based decisions. Includes a strong working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and scheduling software.
Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment.
Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines.
Experience with eSourcing tools.
Willingness to travel 15%.
BS/BA in business or technical discipline. An MBA is desired.
Certification in APICS, and/or ISM is highly desired.
