SOUTH CAROLINA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD 

THIS POSITION IS RESTRICTED TO CURRENT ON-BOARD DUAL STATUS TECHNICIANS EMPLOYED WITH THE SC ARMY NATIONAL GUARD AND TECHNICIANS WITH USERRA RESTORATION RIGHTS WITH THE SC ARMY NATIONAL GUARD

NOTE: TEMPORARY AND INDEFINITES ARE NOT ELIGIBLE. 

National Guard Membership is Required : This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the South Carolina Army National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

DUTIES:

This purpose of this position is to serve as full assistant to a supervisor who has responsibility for providing overall direction and coordination of subordinate work activities and functions which, because of their scope, volume and complexity are carried out by two or more organizational segments and layers, possibly during two or more shifts.  Control and managment of the work functions requires several subordinate supervisors.  The occupation and non-supervisory grade level which best reflects teh nature of teh overall work operations supervised is Electronics Mechanic, WG-2604-10.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum Requirement:

Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has tehe ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific job; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.

Meeting the months of experience requirement will not by itself be accepted as proof of qualification. Quality, type, and scope of experience, training or education must be demonstrated to show that the applicant is fully qualified to perform duties at the grade level announced. 

Specialized Experience: You MUST have 36 months experience in EACH of the following KSAs:

1. Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel.

2. Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines.

3. Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as dvidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes. 

4. Experience adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.


Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: Education in schools above the high school level may be substituted for experience when the education is in the Inventory Management or Supply related fields or another related discipline. Education above the high school level means an educational institution (e.g., a business or commercial school or college, a secretarial school, a junior college or a college or university) for which high school graduation or the equivalent is a prerequisite and in which an applicant successfully completed study.

Note: If you are substituting education for specialized experience, a transcript MUST be submitted with your application.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

Employees selected for full-time positions that require mandatory training at the National Guard Professional Education Center (NGPEC) will have 12 months from the date of hire to complete the required course(s). Failure to complete NGB prescribed courses at NGPEC for new personnel within the first year of employment may be cause for reassignment or termination. 

Enlisted Cash Bonuses: Acceptance of a technician position may affect any bonus and/or educational assistance that may be applicable. Your bonus may be terminated and repayment may be required. 

Permanent Change of Station (PCS) cost is not authorized, based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the interst of the Government. 

For positions requiring the operation of motor vehicles, candidates must have a valid state drivers license for the state in which they live or are principally employed. 

Employees selected for positions that require Information Assurance (IA) Training and Certification will have 6 months from the date of hire to satisfactorily complete the appropriate training and obtain the required certification/recertification for the position as outlined in DoD Publication 8570.01-M Information Assurance Workforce Improvement Program, dated 19 December 2005 (incorporating Change 1, 15 May 2008). Failure to complete the training and certification may be cause for reassignment or termination.
