The Tire Design Engineer assumes a design position where he/she manages projects of minimal difficulty and monitored decision making, progressing to higher levels of difficulty and collaborative decision making. She/He designs tires for passenger cars, light trucks or heavy trucks, for the OE market or the replacement market, for tire brands Michelin, BF Goodrich and/or Uniroyal.

Responsibilities:

- Executes projects assigned by the Team Leader.

- Works within a team environment, taking responsibility for creating engineering drawings of the tire.

- Translates tire design specifications into manufacturing specifications.

- Promotes implementation of product standardization.

- Provides start-up support for building prototype tires.

- Evaluates the prototype tire build results for conformance to the model.

- Supports manufacturing during production startups and evaluates results for conformance to the model.

- Advises and assists the plant on manufacturability/process issues.

Qualifications

- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering

- CAD computer knowledge desired

- FEA knowledge desired - Involvement with vehicles desired
