Job Description



SCOPE

 

The Environmental, Health and Safety Manager is a key member of the CIRCOR Instrumentation Technologies (CIT) Human Resources department and will ensure all required environmental, health and safety activities for the site are accomplished as required by regulatory or policy requirements.   This position reports to the Senior HR Business Partner.

 

ROLE PURPOSE

 

  • Maintain and develop the necessary EHS programs and procedures to ensure the environmental, health and safety of site personnel, visitors and contractors.

  • Lead the site Wellness Team.

  • Work closely with site leadership to ensure continual improvement and compliance in EHS activities

  • Provide EHS direction, assistance, and support for corrective actions and recommendations to assure site EHS improvement.

  • Drive  a culture of safety being the first priority within the site through resource partnerships in the following areas and activities:

  • Develop and implement site workplace inspections and audits to identify work hazards and exposures.  Determine trends and action plans for remediation and corrective actions.

  • Provide co-ordination and leadership in accident investigations in response to incidents.


 

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

 


  • Adheres to company policy and procedures.

  • Manage and coordinate programs for compliance with all applicable local, State and federal regulations.

  • Work with Management to provide guidance and assistance in meeting compliance responsibilities.

  • Develop and lead programs for occupational and process safety.

  •  Prepare and submit regulatory reports and communicate with regulatory agencies.

  • Create regulatory training programs and procedures.

  •  Conduct and accurately document routine audits and inspections.

  • Lead a cross-functional team in accident investigations in response to workplace accidents/injuries

  • Determine root cause of accidents/injuries through 5 Why Analysis

  • Implement corrective actions and measures to prevent accidents/injuries from occurring/re-occurring.

  • Issue plant-wide safety alerts detailing root cause of accidents/injuries and corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

  • Issue plant-wide safety alerts on high risk behaviors or scenarios that have the potential to cause injuries/accidents.

  • Management of workers' compensation claims.

  • Actively manage exposure to occupational hazards, reduce cost of risk.

  • Maintain records on all injury and damage claims.

  • Provide statistical data on safety performance.

  • Acts as regulatory advisor to any/all employees/officers on compliance issues.

  • Develop, coordinate, and implement EHS training material and programs.

  • Develop and communicate Safety Toolbox Talks for monthly all hands meetings.


 

 

ROLE CRITICAL COMPETENCIES AND CHARACTERISTICS

 

 

  • Minimum 3 years of safety management experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Safety, EHS or business related field with advanced academic and professional training preferred.

  • Must have knowledge of OSHA and Workers Compensation Laws.

  • Must have experience developing, implementing and managing safety plans and programs.

  • Ability to drive organizational change

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Formal problem-solving techniques

  • Hands on with a sense of urgency, ability to manage under pressure and manage multiple


  priorities and projects
