Quality Engineer at Aiken

Job Description

Phillips, a well-respected executive search firm focused on permanent placements is currently recruiting for a permanent/direct hire Quality Engineer with a B.S. in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field plus 2 years as a Junior Engineer (preferably in the automotive industry).  Starting pay is $44,000 - 60,000, depending upon experience

Location - Aiken, SC (client may offer some type of relocation assistance)

Quality Engineer

Reporting to the Quality Assurance Service Leader, the Quality Engineer will promote and maintain quality assurance including quality concepts, systems, and procedures in assigned areas to assure product quality at all stages of the process, for continual improvement, to minimize the number and impact of quality problems and to assure compliance to manufacturing, tech service, and other customer requirements.

The Quality Engineer will be responsible for the following:

• Maintain the QA systems and procedures
• Facilitate education and training to plant personnel to assure compliance to QA systems
• Coordinate problem solving activities
• Coordinate the development of countermeasures for the prevention of quality problems and for product performance improvement
• Coordinate and facilitate quality activities for continual improvement
• Analyze and investigate failure mode and trends of quality problems; promote countermeasures to eliminate the possibility of recurrence
• Lead and coordinate lot tracing activities when quality problems are detected
• Analyze and track the cost of quality problems and countermeasures as well as reporting trends related to key indicators
• Make sure areas of responsibility are adequately prepared to be audited to any of the plant, corporate, customer, or tech services standards
• Participate in the plants proactive safety system
  

Job Requirements

The successful Quality Engineer candidate will have the following:

BS degree in Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
2 years experience as a Junior Engineer
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate with implementation of processes
Adaptability to shifting priorities based on the immediate needs of the plant, the customer, and sales demands
Strong communication skills since there is frequent interaction with other plants, Corporate QA, and customers
Must be able to work on call to respond to emergency needs on a 24 hr/day, 7 day/week basis
Ability to work overtime when needed with little or no notice
Travel may also be required on short notice
